is the best domain name I could think of. Someone already had animus.com/org/net ages ago and I didn't really want to use my name.

is my long-considered and generous appraisal of the things I am compelled to make. It's an inescapable fact that nothing I really enjoy doing is ever likely to make me a living. Maybe not even web design.

is an acknowledgement that the best parts of the web are those that will *never* make money and aren't designed to. The things that exist because people love the web and feel like making their corner of it beautiful, or at least interesting. While we enjoy our economic downturn, why not use the opportunity to take back the web for cranks, freaks and loonies as the good lord intended?

is an oblique reference to Frank Zappa's description of his song(s) 'Help, I'm a Rock/It Can't Happen Here' in the liner notes of his album 'Freak Out!'. Go listen to it. If only this site could possess the merest fraction of that kind of lack of commercial potential.
